Understanding the four Buddhist doctrines or schools is important if we want to attain the profound view of emptiness.
The difference between the various schools lies mainly in what is taught as the object of negation in each school. The view and object of negation of the Prasangika Madyamika school are considered to be the most subtle. However, it is also this doctrine that is the most difficult to understand. For this reason, students are traditionally introduced to understanding the Prasangika Madyamika view through the gradual learning of all four schools.
Venerable Anila Jamyang has studied these topics herself in great detail and depth and will graciously give us a simplified overview of the four schools in this weekend course.
