The Longku Center
Our center "Longku" was founded in 2001, initially as an FPMT study group, and from 2004 as an officially recognized center and member of the International Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition FPMT, which is under the spiritual direction of Lama Zopa Rinpoche. We work closely with the French-speaking FPMT center "Centre Gendun Drupa" in Martigny and are in contact with the German-speaking centers in Germany and Austria. We also maintain regular contacts with other European and international centers.
Until 2011, we were also part of the Center for Buddhism “Changchub Shenpen Ling”, which was founded in 1993 by Ueli Minder and has been an ecumenical Buddhist center since 2000. The following traditions are currently represented:
the Vipassana meditation group Bern (Theravada Buddhism)
the Zen meditation group (Paul Shepard, Chô Un)
This shows our great concern to maintain openness towards the different traditions, which H.H. Dalai Lama sets an example.
It is the aim of our center "Longku" to bring Buddhist practice closer to the various interested parties with a wide range of lectures, courses, meditations and joint discussions and thereby inspire them.
Since beginning of 2022 we are at a new location .
Our attitude to the practice of protection (Shugden) fully corresponds to that of H.H. Dalai Lama. more ... (select language on the right in the text)
