The teaching on Parting from the Four Clingings is a key instruction in the Sakya tradition. It advises practitioners to let go of four attachments: clinging to this life, clinging to samsara, clinging to self-interest, and clinging to true existence. These attachments hinder spiritual progress by keeping one bound to worldly concerns, suffering, selfishness, and mistaken views. Letting go of them leads to genuine Dharma practice, true renunciation, selfless compassion, and correct understanding. By contemplating these points, practitioners move toward enlightenment. This concise teaching remains a foundational guide in Tibetan Buddhism.
